CyHLab has focused particularly on developing this HIV antiretroviral line with the aim of providing a wide range of therapeutic options for people living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which is responsible for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
HIV medications prevent the virus from replicating, thereby reducing the concentration of HIV in the body (known as viral load). With lower levels of HIV in the body, the immune system has a better chance to recover and produce more CD4 lymphocytes. Even though some HIV may still remain in the body, the immune system is strong enough to fight infections and certain HIV-related cancers. The primary goal of HIV treatment is to reduce the viral load to an undetectable level, which is achievable with proper therapeutic adherence.
